fa la la la la, la la la la

13 days until Christmas, and I haven't bought a damn thing yet!  That's my mission for the weekend.  I'll be rollin all over town.  What fun!

Have you ever wondered what an order filling job is like?  This is it, in a nutshell:

You arrive in good spirits, your legs still sore from the previous eleven hour shift.  You go to the daily team meeting and converse with fellow employees.  You get busy fulfilling your mission to ship out as many units as possible.  Your telezapper keeps informing you of new locations to move to.  Run, run faster!!  You wonder what time it is.  You know that you should never, EVER look at the clock, but you just cannot resist this temptation.  7:15 pm?!  WHAT THE HELL?!  It feels like you've been here forever!  Ugh.

Break time finally rolls around, by the time you get outside you have exactly enough time to smoke half of your cigarette.  Hurry back, RUN, RUN!  The telezapper sends a message to go faster and moves you to a new location where there are only 5 totes.  What the hell?

You call the help desk to report this issue.  They tell you to hold on a moment, and lay the phone aside for two minutes.  You impatiently march up to them, and tell them that you couldn't stay on hold any longer because you got another call.  You laugh at your own joke.

The desk helpers, however, are not amused by your attempt to humor them.

You ask, "WHERE HAVE ALL THE TOTES GONE?!"  You are pointed in the direction of some totes and push them to your location.  Work.  Work, work.  Go fast.  La, la, la.

10:08 pm, the system crashes.  You are handed a box cutter and told to go open boxes and place merchandise on pallets.  Awesome.

Lunch time!

You are almost ran over by a person in a golf cart who was behind you and forgot to honk the horn.  Your fingers are dirty, there's too much dust.

Then, before you know it (like, a day later), it is 3:00 am.

This is when things start to get a little funny.

You walk in a dazed, dreamy like state.  Your feet feel like they are on fire and your legs ache.  Your pedometer informs you that you have walked 20 miles thus far.  You are stuck on the 5th level, where it is hot.  The 5th level... if this was a Mario Brothers game, you'd be kicking ass!
But it's not, and you aren't.

You imagine that this is what hell must be like, wandering around aimlessly and in pain, and you just want to go to sleep.  At least there are fans here, though.

You are hungry as hell.  You place a tote on the conveyor belt and look down blow.  You look at the floor.  You hope those nails are strong enough, because there is totally a gap in that board.
You start singing "we all live in a yellow Submarine"...

Someone with a red vest on walks past you, then does a double take and asks if you are okay.  You laugh.  You advise them that you have to sing to yourself, to stay awake.  They give you a crazy look.  But that's okay, we're all crazy here.

3:18 AM.  Dammit, you looked at the clock again!  Why?!

3:53 AM.  Must... keep... going...

Finally, your telezapper gives you the joyous message that it is time to go home at 4:30 am.  You almost cry tears of joy as you shuffle your feet towards the exit and wench in pain as they hit the stairs.  You are so not in shape for this.

You make it out to your car about 15 minutes later and find it to be covered in ice.  Fabulous.  You enjoy your after shift cigarette as you vivaciously scrape that shit off of your windshied.  You drive the long drive home, feeling accomplished.  You made it through the day without your ankles breaking... hell yeah!

THE END

Honestly... it just get so boring after a few hours!!!  LOL.

There's not much else going on in my life besides the usual, and working, and sleeping.  How is everyone??
